What to Do Before Departure
- Passport Validity: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 2 months beyond your arrival date in Vietnam.
- Vietnam E-Visa: Apply for the Vietnam E-Visa online to streamline your travel process. Print out your E-Visa and bring it with your passport.
- Booking Flights: Make sure you have your E-Visa and passport ready before booking your flight to Vietnam.
What to Do Upon Entry/Exit
- Entry/Exit Procedures:
- Complete Entry/Exit Form: Fill out the new entry & exit form (CHY2000) and submit it to the Immigration Officers.
- Required Documents: Present your passport and E-Visa.
- Wait Time: Procedures typically take a few minutes.
- Luggage and Customs:
- Personal Use: Ensure that the goods, luggage, and personal possessions you bring are for personal use only.
- Declare and Show Luggage: Declare all items at Customs on arrival and re-declare them when leaving, except for those consumed or given as gifts.
- Specify Items:
- Electronics and Devices: Declare video cameras, recorders, and other electronic devices not for personal use.
- Gold and Currency:
- Gold: Declare gold over 300 grams. If carrying more than 3,000 grams, you must deposit and re-export the surplus.
- Currency: Declare foreign currency in cash (paper, coins, and traveler’s cheques) over USD 7,000 or its equivalent in other currencies, or over 5,000,000 Vietnamese Dong.
- Other Commodities: Declare any items outside of duty-free luggage.
- Duty-Free Goods Allowed:
- 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, 150 grams of tobacco threads
- 1.5 liters of alcohol
- Other items not prohibited, with a total value not exceeding USD 300.
- Prohibited Goods:
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives, inflammables, firecrackers
- Opium, narcotics, toxic chemicals
- Antiques, rare fauna and flora, documents related to national security
- Cultural items improper to Vietnamese traditions and customs
- Toys with negative effects on children’s development
