Vietnam visa application – To Whom & How?

What is a Vietnam visa?

A Vietnam visa is a stamp placed in a passport that allows the passport holder to enter and stay in Vietnam within the visa’s validity period. The visa’s validity period, from the entry date to the exit date, is noted on the stamp. If the visa expires and the passport holder wishes to stay longer, they must apply for an extension.

Traditionally, Vietnam visa applications are made at the Vietnam embassy in the applicant’s home country. However, it is now easier and faster to apply for a Vietnam E-Visa online. With the E-Visa, there’s no need to visit the embassy; instead, the visa is stamped into the passport upon arrival at the airport in Vietnam.

To whom is Vietnam visa application required?

Vietnam visa applications are required for most foreigners, except for citizens of countries that have signed a visa exemption agreement with Vietnam. These countries include Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore, and others.

It’s important to always check the Vietnam visa requirements before applying. This ensures you have the most up-to-date information on visa exemptions or requirements specific to your nationality.
